'I don't see that' – Lee Hendrie shares why 'immense' Leeds are 'absolutely nailed to go up'
Former Aston Villa player Lee Hendrie thinks that Leeds United are “absolutely nailed to go up” this season after claiming they can win even when they’re not playing well.
Talking ahead of the game against Hull last night, Leeds had won six in a row.
They made it seven at Elland Road on Tuesday and are back on top of the Championship – 11 points clear of Fulham in third.
It wasn’t the best performance and Leeds weren’t so good against Huddersfield either. But that’s proof, for Lee Hendrie, of why promotion is “nailed on” this season.
Asked about Leeds winning when not playing well, Hendrie said on Sky’s live coverage tonight (Tuesday, 7.30pm), “Sign of a good team, it really is. I watched the game. Looking at the outcome, the start of the game, Huddersfield were superb. But it just shows the class of this Leeds side from back to front.
“They are absolutely immense. They keep the ball well, they create chances, there are goals coming from everywhere.
“And that is just the sign of a good balanced side that Bielsa has got there. They just look absolutely super this season.
“Everyone says Leeds are going to fall away, I don’t see that. They’ll have learned from last season and I think the top two at the moment are absolutely nailed to go up.”
We couldn’t have put it much better ourselves.
There are still pundits who keep repeating the false claim that Leeds fell away last season. David Meyler was at it on talkSPORT ahead of the Hull game.
Leeds are already in a stronger position than they were this time last season and a run of seven-in-a-row has already equalled Bielsa’s best at the club.
We’re not going to say Leeds are nailed until they’re mathematically up, but we’re more than happy to listen to former players like Hendrie wax lyrical about the side Bielsa has built.
