‘I actually thought…’ – Adrian Durham refuses to credit Man Utd despite win over Leeds

TalkSPORT presenter Adrian Durham believes that Leeds United’s injuries were to blame for their loss at Old Trafford rather than the efforts of Manchester United.

Marcelo Bielsa once again deployed a makeshift defence as Robin Koch and Diego Llorente missed the game through injury.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Durham also claimed that there were periods of Sunday’s game where the Whites were the better side despite the eventual 6-2 loss.

He said, “People are talking about this as an Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] masterclass tactically, how he’s outwitted Bielsa.

“Take a look at Leeds’ injuries and where they’ve got them. I actually thought that after the first couple of goals, when Leeds settled themselves. I thought there were periods of the game where Leeds were the better side.”

Leeds were blown away by the Red Devils in the first half of Sunday’s match but in the second half, they had plenty of chances to get back into the game.

Leeds weren’t at their strongest at Old Trafford but they still caused plenty of problems for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Whites fans will have been wondering what the score might’ve been if their side were at full strength as they ended up on the wrong end of Sunday’s result.

Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas got themselves on the scoresheet which proved that Leeds had a good go at Man United but their defending let them down.

Jack Harrison and Raphinha had chances to get their side back into the game in the second half but they weren’t taken.

On another day the result could’ve been so different and while the outcome was disappointing, there are some positives to take from the game.

Hopefully, Bielsa will have a full squad to choose from when the two rivals meet at Elland Road later this season so we can see a more even match up between the sides.
