Huge Leeds United update shared as Weston McKennie future in doubt

There is “huge uncertainty” surrounding Weston McKennie’s future at Leeds United, according to former Bleacher Report journalist, Dean Jones.

Fabrizio Romano revealed (Here We Go Podcast, 12 May) that McKennie moving to Elland Road permanently would be really difficult if Leeds are relegated to the Championship.

Talking to GIVEMESPORT (13 May), Jones has since claimed there is now “huge uncertainty” over McKennie’s future in West Yorkshire.

“I didn’t think this was one of his worst performances,” said Jones.

“You could fault him on the goals, but I thought his all-around performance slightly improved. But there’s huge uncertainty over whether he stays”

Backburner

McKennie’s future needs to be put on the back burner. At present, no work can be done when it comes to transfer planning at Leeds. It’s extremely hard for the board to identify any potential targets. Planning for a Premier League campaign and Championship one are completely different.

The American was brought to Elland Road to help stave off the threat of relegation. Unfortunately, his move hasn’t worked out in the slightest. There have been moments of promising play, but, on the whole, we were expecting a hell of a lot more from the midfielder.

Leeds United

Even if Leeds do stay up, a move for the 24-year-old would seem unlikely. He’s likely to be a high-earner and he would require a £30million plus transfer fee.

Victor Orta and Jesse Marsch clearly had a lot to do with the deal and the former sporting director’s poor decision-making will once again haunt Leeds if they’re relegated.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has laid out up to £300million that the Whites are eyeing to save themselves.
