Huge Dominic Calvert-Lewin worry emerges late on deadline day as Leeds ‘chaos’ erupts with hours to go
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been a revelation for Leeds United this season.
The English forward has been a vital cog in Daniel Farke’s side, which currently has them out of the relegation zone.
Leeds has been looking to rely less on the number nine; however, a late move for Jorgen Strand Larsen ultimately fell at the final hurdle.
The Norwegian looks set to join Crystal Palace after the Eagles agreed to a deal with Wolves. It may now turn out to be a mistake to watch Palace seal that transfer.

Leeds United’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin hit with new injury rumours
Calvert-Lewin’s injury struggles have been well documented throughout his career, but at Elland Road, he has had a great availability record so far.
The Englishman has found his form once again for the Peacocks, scoring nine goals in the current Premier League campaign, leading to Calvert-Lewin being called the “best free transfer” of the season.
However, those previous injury fears could now have come back, which would leave Farke in quite a spot of bother.
According to journalist Adonis Storr, who won Best Radio News Report at the 2025 BJTC Awards, there has been “a rumour that DCL has a thigh strain”.
“Another chaotic deadline day for Leeds,” Storr added.
If that is to be the case, then the 49ers could regret their decision to walk away from the Strand Larsen deal.
Hopefully, even if true, the strain is only a minor issue for the forward. If not, then Joel Piroe may end up having a major role in this Leeds side.

How long could Calvert-Lewin be out for?
If Calvert-Lewin has picked up a thigh strain, the recovery time will depend on the grade of injury he has sustained.
Thigh strains are typically classified into three different grades, with Grade 1 the least serious and Grade 3 the most severe.
- Grade 1: Eight to 10 days
- Grade 2: Three to four weeks
- Grade 3: One to three months
Hopefully, even if true, the strain is only a minor issue for the forward. If not, then Joel Piroe may end up having a major role in this Leeds side.
The best-case scenario could see him miss just two games for Farke, with fixtures against Nottingham Forest on 6 February and Chelsea on 10 February around the corner.
However, these are just rumours, so it is worth stressing that there is always the case that there is nothing in them, and Calvert-Lewin could be leading the line on Friday at Elland Road.
Hope for fans will be that that is the case.
