‘Huge’ – Bruce delivers Leeds promotion verdict, shares what he noticed watching recent match

Alex Bruce is confident that Leeds United can win promotion back to the Premier League this season after reviving their form last week.

Leeds had been in a run since mid-December but finally strung together a couple of good performances against promotion rivals Brentford and Bristol City, earning themselves four points in the process.

Winning 1-0 against the Robins on Saturday saw them move three points clear of third place but ex-Leeds defender Bruce was equally impressed by what he saw in the 1-1 draw at Griffin Park last Tuesday.

“You can see that now with some of the results. I think they’ll have enough to go up this season, however,” Bruce told talkSPORT, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“I do believe they’re a Premier League club, Leeds United should be in the Premier League.

“The result against on Saturday (the 1-0 win over Bristol City) was huge, to go back to Elland Road and get three points.

“I saw them play against Brentford and they played well, responded well to going 1-0 down.”

Leeds were unlucky to have not won at Brentford with Kiko Casilla’s error proving to be the only thing that stopped the Whites from picking up maximum points at Griffin Park.

There’s no denying how well they played against Bristol City at the weekend and they could have won by a lot more if – once again – there was a bit more of a cutting edge in the attack.

It will be interesting to see what happens this weekend when Reading arrive at Elland Road.

They’re not a promotion rival but are certainly a team that could cause issues for the Whites as they have some good players and there’s no a lot of pressure on them.

If Leeds can string together a second win in a row then that will be a huge confidence boost.
