‘Huge’ 49ers Leeds United development on cards amid uneasy Elland Road scenario – Sky Sports pundit
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has predicted a “huge” impact on the 49ers’ takeover of Leeds United if the club is relegated to the Championship.
The Daily Mail reported (18 April) that Andrea Radrizzani could lose £270million if Leeds do return to the second tier, with the club’s valuation plummeting to £150million.
Robinson has since reacted to the news and has questioned whether the takeover will still be on the cards if the worst happens come the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

“I think the club’s plight and what division it’s in will have a huge impact on the takeover,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“I don’t know the ins and outs of the takeover. I don’t know how it sits if the club is relegated, whether it’s still on the table or not.
“Listen it’s a very uneasy time for Leeds United fans at the moment regarding the managerial situation, their Premier League status and the ownership.

“It’s a case of getting the next four to six weeks out the way and seeing where things are at. I think that’s going to be really important.
“The takeover deal depends massively on what league they’re in next year.”
The 49ers are set to take control of the club in January 2024 although the takeover could potentially be moved forward (The Athletic, 3 March).
