Huddersfield Town take new swipe at Leeds United with promotion message on Saturday
Huddersfield Town took a new promotion swipe at Leeds United after the points were shared between the two sides at the John Smith’s Stadium, according to Graham Smyth.
The Whites were unable to make use of their man advantage on Saturday (2 March) after Jonathan Hogg was given his marching orders late in the second half, with Patrick Bamford’s late strike rescuing a point for the visitors.
Daniel Farke’s side now sit third and two points outside the playoff places following the draw and Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Smyth revealed that the stadium announcer was quick to suggest Leeds may miss out on promotion.
Writing for the Yorkshire Evening Post (3 March) he said: “The man on the PA system declaring “We look forward to seeing you next season,” as the two teams mingled at full-time. The meaning of his message was lost on no one.”
Will Leeds United still win promotion under Daniel Farke to the Premier League this season?
Leeds United and their supporters will have been gutted to drop points on Saturday as the game was seemingly set up for Farke’s side to win, but a slight wobble was always going to be inevitable before the end of the season.
The Whites were far from poor and had Crysencio Summerville’s late effort curled just a little bit further inside the post, Leeds would have claimed all three points comfortably and remained in the automatic promotion places.

Ipswich may have moved above Farke’s side for now, but Leicester City dropped points once again at the top of the table and the gap between Leeds and the top of the table is seemingly closing with each passing week.
There is still a very good chance that United will be playing their football in the Premier League next season, whether that be through an automatic promotion or the playoffs, but hopefully, Huddersfield’s jibe won’t come true.
