How the Championship is tipped to finish after Leeds smash Hull 4-0
Nate Silver’s prediction site FiveThirtyEight has updated its final Championship table after the latest round of matches this weekend and it’s a great sight for Leeds United fans.
They beat Hull 4-0 on Saturday to make it four wins in a row, while leaders West Brom lost in a shock result to struggling Wigan at the Hawthorns.
It leaves Leeds just one point off the top and five points ahead of Fulham in third.
FiveThirtyEight now has Leeds going up as champions, finishing the season two points ahead of the Baggies.
Dig deeper and some of the other stats make for even better reading.
The table lists Leeds’ chances of getting promoted now as almost a lock at 96%, with just a 5% chance of that coming through the play-offs.
They’ve got a 64% chance of going up as champions.
No Leeds fans want to count their chickens but the winning run has come just at the right time, although there’s a big game on the horizon.
It’s Huddersfield and Cardiff next before Leeds host third-placed side Fulham at Elland Road on March 18. That could be the defining game in the season for Leeds.
If they win the next three, including the Fulham game, even the most pessimistic Leeds fan will be singing.
