‘Highest level’ – Kinnear confirms when Leeds will take on extra investment, one party in talks

Leeds United chief Angus Kinnear has said that Leeds are in ongoing talks with the San Francisco 49ers about taking on extra investment.

He added that many other parties are interested, too, and that Andrea Radrizzani would take on extra investment in the next 12 months.

He said that would give Leeds the chance to compete at the “highest level” in the Premier League.

He also made a big claim saying that Leeds are “probably the most investable proposition in world football” at the present time.

Talking in an interview with The Square Ball podcast, Kinnear said, “The question we’re asking now as we step up to the next level, what’s the level of funding required to get Leeds back to where we belong?

“Leeds should be in the Premier League so we’ve only got back to where we should be. Now we have to solidify our position and then ask, how do you start attacking the top six?

“We’ve got lots of people interested in the club now, the club is probably the most investable proposition in world football.

“The 49ers have been part of those conversations.

“Over the next 12 months, we’ll see further investment that will give Leeds the chance to kick on at the highest level.”

Leeds and the 49ers as QSI drop out of picture

Kinnear talks a very good game but he’s true about the upside at Leeds United.

If Leeds can consolidate in the Premier League then there’s every chance of pushing on even further and becoming a top-six side.

Leeds have the fan base and are looking to expand Elland Road into a 50,000-seater stadium. All season tickets are currently sold out and there’s a 20,000 waiting list.

What’s interesting about what Kinnear said is that QSI seem to have dropped out of the picture for now.

That could be down to the Coronavirus pandemic but it does seem that the 49ers are the most likely source of extra funds.

That would be a good thing in our opinion. So far they’ve invested and been – to the outside world – silent partners, while helping Leeds share their knowledge and experience.

Keeping Andrea Radrizzani, Kinnear, Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa at the club is key to the future value and success of the club as we see it, and the 49ers don’t seem to want to exert any influence on that side of things.
