'He’s done fantastically well' - Danny Mills gushes over Leeds 27y/o but admits he has 'problem'
Danny Mills has heaped praise on Leeds United ace Ezgjan Alioski but admits that there is a “problem” that is getting in the way of him earning more game-time.
Alioski, 27, has been in superb form for Leeds lately but has only started five out of the club’s last six matches in the Championship.
He scored in wins against Huddersfield and Hull but has had to make do with a spot on the bench since a short spell on the sidelines with an injury ruled him out of two games in November.
Alioski is a popular character among Leeds supporters and he has been vital under Marcelo Bielsa thanks to his blistering pace and sheer determination.
However Mills admits that it could be a while before we see the North Macedonia international back in Leeds’ starting line-up.
“Yeah I think the problem he has is that he’s not an out-and-out full-back,” Mills told Football Insider.

“And you’ve got some very good wingers or wide-midfield players in those positions so it makes it difficult for him to get in on a regular basis.
“He’s filled in at full-back before and done well but you’d have to say if you have a specialist in that position you probably favourite likely to favour that type of player.
“We’ve seen that at many football clubs all over the place, yes he has done incredibly well, he’s done fantastically well filling in, he’ll still play 25 games, 35 games a season, dipping in and out but he doesn’t really have his own position.
“Sometimes that’s brilliant as a manager but not always great as a player.”
It is a very good point by Mills but it is important to remember that Alioski has still started 12 out of Leeds’ 23 matches so far this season.
The former Lugano winger may be in the middle of a spell on the bench at the moment but there is no way that will last until the campaign ends in May.
Leeds get a lot of injuries and have a small squad so having a player as versatile as Alioski is very important.
He can play very well at left-back or on the left-wing, but at the moment, there is no way that Bielsa can drop either Stuart Dallas or Jack Harrison.
Alioski will have to remain patient but he is a great team player and we all know that once he does start a game, he’s not going to disappoint.
