‘He’s brilliant’ – Leeds ace Adam Forshaw hails Elland Road ‘genius’

Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw has claimed that manager Marcelo Bielsa is a “genius”.

The Whites currently find themselves on the brink of a long-awaited return to the Premier League as they sit atop the Championship with a seven-point cushion over the play-offs and nine games to go.

Forshaw made headlines earlier this week when he suggested that he and his teammates were going to “romp” their way to promotion in the coming weeks.

The 28-year-old has since doubled down on those claims, however, as well as heaping praise on his manager for the impact he has had at Elland Road.

Speaking to the Daily Star, he said: “I think on the balance of play this year we deserve to get promoted.

“The Leeds fans have waited years. I’m sure the manager will get us to the promised land.

“Marcelo Bielsa is the best manager I’ve ever worked for. He’s very scientific.

“In his field he’s a genius. In terms of coaching a group of players and improving them, he’s brilliant.”

At this stage, it feels like we get an awestruck quote about Bielsa from somebody in the professional game every week or so.

The Argentine is one of the most widely revered figures in football, and his influence is felt way beyond the training pitches of Thorp Arch.

Everyone from Pep Guardiola, to Mauricio Pochettino, to Diego Maradona have hailed the 64-year-old over the course of his career, and while he may not boast the trophy cabinet that some of his peers do, his reputation is all but unparalleled.

The impact he has had in Yorkshire has been fantastic, and it would be a fitting reward for him and his team if we can secure promotion in the coming weeks.
