'Here's a bit of breaking news for you' - Ally McCoist makes admission about Leeds

Ally McCoist has been drooling over Leeds United for how well Marcelo Bielsa’s side has started the new Premier League season.

Leeds are sitting eighth in the standings after four matches and even though they have dropped points in two games against Liverpool and Manchester City, they have still managed to impress the nation with their performances in the loss at Anfield and draw with the Citizens.

The Yorkshire club have become famous for their attack-minded style of play since winning promotion and McCoist has admitted that his youngest child has adopted them as his new second team.

“They’ve started really, really well,” said McCoist on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning, as shown via the radio station’s official Twitter account.

“We always felt after last season that Leeds would be a great addition to the top-flight and boy, are they proving us right. They have been a breath of fresh air.

“I’ve watched all their games and they’re just great to watch.

“In fact, here’s a bit of breaking news for you. My youngest, he’s not dropping Chelsea as his team but he’s informed the nation that Leeds are definitely his second team. How about that?”

Alan Brazil responded: “A lot of people will do that, Ally. Like a lot of people did with Leicester.

“A lot of people will now have Leeds as their second team.”

Everyone is meant to hate Leeds – what is going on?

It just goes to show that if you play good football, have a popular manager and a talented bunch of players then neutral supporters are going to take a shine to your club.

As Brazil pointed out, a few years back people were gunning for Leicester as they shocked the nation by winning the Premier League title and some still follow the Foxes as they continue to impress in the English top-flight.

Could Leeds be a new Leicester?

The Whites are not there yet but with the right investment and Bielsa at the helm, anything seems to be possible for this club.
