Henry Winter gushes over Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams
Henry Winter was blown away by Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams in the 0-0 World Cup clash between USA and England on 25 November.
The 23-year-old started in the heart of the American midfield and played the entire game for them.
He registered a pass accuracy of 87 per cent on the night – misplacing just six of his attempted 46 passes. [Sofascore]
Via Twitter, the Times journalist wrote, “Tyler Adams man of the match in my honest opinion. Superb in midfield, breaking up England moves, playing it simple, embodying the United States’ organisation and defiance. Christian Pulisic voted MOTM.”
Our man of the match
Adams is certainly taken his game up a notch in this World Cup and we could not be happier for him.

He came to Leeds with the high hopes of replacing Kalvin Phillips and while he’s not the same type of player as him, he’s certainly hit the ground running.
Jesse Marsch pushed to get this deal over the line and we can now see why he wanted to make the United States midfield the front and centre of his rebuild.
While we would agree that Pulisic had a good game, the reason England were kept at bay was the US midfield and Adams played a key role.
He ensured that the Three Lions struggled to control the middle third as most of the possession they had was in their own half.
We’ve seen similar performances from him at Elland Road and we’re not surprised that he’s getting recognition on the biggest stage of them all.
In other Leeds United news, a first-team defender may not have long left at Elland Road after “Awful” footage emerges from this month, making a January transfer imperative.
