It’s been a quiet window for Leeds United fans but there could have been a big outgoing if Spanish club Castellon had got their way.

Athletic journalist Phil Hay reported that they were “hoping to tempt Pablo Hernandez back there this month but it won’t happen.”

He said that Leeds were “not willing to lose him”.

Hay delivered the surprise transfer update on Sunday evening ahead of the deadline this evening.

That should be it for this window. One fan asked whether we could expect any incomings and Hay let him down with a single word.

Still a lot to give

Pablo Hernandez’ season hasn’t gone the way he would have hoped so far.

He’s only made two starts in the Premier League and hasn’t started since the reverse fixture against Leicester back in November.

That saw him react badly to getting subbed off and he was dropped from the squad entirely for the next four games.

Since then he’s been a bit-part player and hasn’t even got off the bench in the last two games.

However, that could change. Rodrigo went off injured in the 3-1 win against Leicester on Sunday and that could see a role for Hernandez open up for the next few games.

If he’s fully fit, he could start against Everton in the home game on Wednesday evening.

Either way, the Leeds squad is too thin to let someone like Hernandez go, although we do think there’s a chance he could go back to Spain in the summer.

He’ll be a big loss when he does go but that seems like it could be the right time to exit for a player who has given so much joy to Leeds fans.
