We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has said that Raphinha will start for Leeds against Chelsea on Saturday evening.
Raphinha got his second start in a Leeds shirt last week and put in a match-winning performance, scoring the only goal of the game and looking a real menace all match.
Robinson added that if he carries on playing the way he is, Helder Costa – on a reported £32,500-a-week – will “really struggle” to get back into the side.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “Raphinha starts the next game.
“The way he’s playing he will start and Helder Costa will really struggle to get back into the team.
“You look at the bench now as Leeds are starting to get players back. You’ve got the likes of Costa and Rodrigo on the bench, Poveda… It’s a really strong bench.
“The Leeds starting XI looks good but the great thing to see is the strength of the bench at Leeds at the moment.
“They’ve got real strength in depth in attack.”
We’ve been impressed with the impact Raphinha has had but we’ve also been very happy to see the reaction from Costa.
He scored a wonderful goal for the Under-23s after losing his place in the side and almost made an instant impact when he came off the bench in the game against Everton.
He very nearly scored in the dying moments of the game, denied only be a superb save from Jordan Pickford.
