Harry Redknapp not close to Leeds United appointment after manager news emerges
Harry Redknapp is not close to taking over as Leeds United manager after he put himself forward this week, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper has reported on its website that the former Spurs and Portsmouth boss has informed Leeds that he would take over at Elland Road.
It is said that a “stunning” return could be set should talks progress further, although he is not thought to be close to the role with Michael Skubala continuing as things stand.

Redknapp would be willing to take the job on a short-term basis, with a deal until the end of the season similar to what Neil Warnock has done at Huddersfield.
This could potentially suit Leeds, who would have more chance at appointing their main targets at the end of the season such as Andoni Iraola and Arne Slot.

Stunning?
This would be a huge risk.
Of course, Redknapp has experience of the Premier League, but things have progressed massively since he was last involved and Leeds will surely be noting that.
The Whites did not rush into their initial decision, keeping Skubala in charge, and it is critical they don’t rush now that a big name has offered them his services.
It is nothing against Redknapp, but his time has past and this is a young, progressive Leeds side who need real guidance in an attacking system, not just to sit back and fight relegation.
Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta have burned nearly every bridge they have left in recent months and the past year, so don’t put it past them to completely mess this one up again.
Who wouldn’t want this job if out of work right now? It is a huge opportunity, and that is clear with the likes of Redknapp and Sam Allardyce publically going for it.
Sorry guys, it’s not happening.
