Harry Redknapp: Leeds United are in ‘big danger’ in Premier League relegation battle

Harry Redknapp believes Leeds are in “big danger” of relegation after their recent losses to Crystal Palace and Liverpool at Elland Road.

The Whites sit above the relegation zone on goal difference alone, but have conceded 11 goals in their last two Premier League games to find themselves in a much more precarious position.

Speaking to the UTCIAD Youtube Channel (17 April), Redknapp believes that sacking Jesse Marsch didn’t help matter for Leeds but does think they’ll just about avoid the drop because of the fans at Elland Road despite their recent results there.

“Leeds are in big danger for sure,” he said.

“Chopping managers late in the season, it’s not really worked too much. It’s certainly worked with Crystal Palace. Roy’s gone in there and done an amazing job to pull them out of trouble.

“Certainly Leeds have chopped and changed a bit and the results, getting beat 5-1 at home by Crystal Palace was a shocker.

“I still think they’ll get out of it. The fans, it’s a difficult place to go and they’ll drive them on to get a result.”

Marsch wasn’t doing anywhere near well enough to keep his job at the club, but you could make the argument that the board waited too long to get rid of him.

He went on a run of just one win in 17 games but the club waited until after the January transfer window to get rid of him, and then there was the clown shot that followed when it came to eventually replacing him.

But this team still has more than enough quality running through it that we shouldn’t be in this position that we find ourselves in, and we’ve shown that we’re capable of getting big results.

We beat Liverpool at Anfield, beat Chelsea at Elland Road and recently got wins against relegation rivals Wolves and Nottingham Forest while scoring goals.

Leeds have shown they can escape, but they have to get out of this recent rut they have found themselves in to do it, and that starts with a win against a struggling Fulham side on Saturday.

In other Leeds news, Javi Gracia and Victor Orta have convinced this player to move to Elland Road this summer.
