Harry Redknapp wowed by 'immaculate' Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk
Leeds defender Pascal Struijk has been praised for his performance against Chelsea by former Premier League manager Harry Redknapp.
The 23-year-old starred at left-back in the 3-0 win against Chelsea, helping Jesse Marsch’s side keep a clean sheet against Thomas Tuchel’s Champions League hopefuls.
Redknapp, who has 641 games of Premier League management experience, labelled the defender a top player highlighting him in the victory over Chelsea.
Writing for BetVictor, Redknapp said: “They were great going forward, but I was really impressed with Pascal Struijk at the back.
“He defends on the front foot, and his passing is immaculate.
“Leeds have got a top player there.”
Struijk v Chelsea
There were many impressive performances against Chelsea on 21 August and Struijk’s performance was right up there with the best of them.
A lot has been made of the club’s struggle to find a consistent left-back but Struijk did a solid job as a make-shift full-back.
The Dutchman was composed in possession and strong in his tackling, adequate dealing with the offensive threat of Mason Mount and the overlapping Reece James.
His four tackles was the joint-most for the Whites that day, in addition to having one interception and two clearances against the Blues.
He also had an impressive 100% pass accuracy not misplacing a single one of his 26 passes during the famous victory at Elland Road.
The 23-year-old, who also had the third-most will be hoping to build on this impressive performance and continue his fine form.
In other Leeds news, the club are reportedly in talks to sign Kai Wagner.
