Harry Maguire revels in seeing what ex-Manchester United pal did v Leeds United

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has sent a message of congratulations to ex-teammate Hannibal Mejbri after Burnley won 1-0 against Leeds United.

Hannibal posted a sly dig at Leeds on his Instagram page (14 September) saying it’s “always good to win those games, even better when you bring the 3pts home”.

To which Maguire replied with two ‘clapping’ emoji’s to show his excitement for his former teammate’s win at Elland Road.

Leeds United need to improve their form

Since before a ball was kicked this season, Leeds have been one of the favourites to come away with the Championship title.

After narrowly missing out on Premier League promotion last term, the Whites were supposed to be out for vengeance in 2024/25 and on their way towards the title.

However, despite winning the odd game here and there, Daniel Farke’s men have fallen outside of the top six spots and are on course to miss out on them altogether as of right now – although there is of course still a long, long way to go.

Their most recent clash against Burnley was only a narrow 1-0 loss but if Mateo Joseph managed to bag one of his many chances, they’d have been in a much better position.

If the Whites want to avoid getting stuck in the playoffs once again and potentially miss out on promotion, their form will have to pick up soon otherwise it could end up being a long and gruelling season for Farke’s men and their fans.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites missed out on signing the extra attacker they wanted despite agreeing a multi-million pound deal.
