Harry Kane singles out Leeds ace for ‘great’ season, shares verdict on England chances
Harry Kane has been impressed with Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford since his return to the Premier League this season.
The 27-year-old has scored 10 goals from his 17 top-flight games and is among the top-scorers in the division coming up to the halfway stage.
Kane singled out the Whites’ talisman for his great technical ability and finishing in the final third, as he waxed lyrical about the striker.
Speaking on BT Sport and their coverage of the clash, Kane admitted that Bamford must be ready to take his opportunity with England should it come.
“I’ve played with Patrick in the younger age groups at England, he’s a great finisher, great technically on the ball and he deserves to be playing in the Premier League,” he said.
“He’s done a lot of hard work, he’s had to fight his way to get to the highest level, and he’s showing that he can do it at the highest level.
“Whenever the opportunity comes, you just have to be ready to take it. Patrick now, 27, and he’s playing in the Premier League, so everyone is doing it differently, the most important thing is you work hard to reach the top.”
Bamford has certainly been one of the success stories of this Premier League season and stands a good chance of earning that England call-up.
Gareth Southgate addressed his chances back in November, and he definitely opened the door for the Leeds ace to earn that shot.
Kane is the main man for England, and even he has been impressed with Bamford.
The 27-year-old has scored the same number of goals and even has a better shot accuracy than the England star – something that will put him in a great opportunity to earn a spot on the plane to the EUROs this summer.
