Andy Townsend has questioned whether or not Leeds United fans could turn on Marcelo Bielsa should their struggles continue.
The talkSPORT pundit claimed that the Whites could come to a crossroads if they continue to heavily ship goals and lose games in the Premier League.
Leeds have lost their last two games against Leicester and Crystal Palace by 4-1, and it could have been even more in both.
Townsend found it hard to admit that Bielsa would change his system at Elland Road, even if this poor run of form continued.
“They will come to a crossroads,” he said on talkSPORT.
“I’m not saying are anywhere near that yet, and they’re not, even though they’ve had a couple of dodgy results and they’re conceding quite heavily.
“I worry for them a little bit if they’re just going to blindly continue with this ‘we can win games 4-3 if we need to’ – it’s why Guardiola loves him.
“I just wonder how much the Leeds fans will honestly, hand on heart say this is absolutely the right way to go if their Premier League status became debatable.”
Things definitely haven’t gone too well in the past couple of weeks.
Everybody knows that Bielsa is stubborn, and he has every right to be given his success with Leeds in his three years here.
One thing that isn’t helping is the long list of injuries. If Kalvin Phillips, Rodrigo and Diego Llorente were all fit, it would be much better.
All of those options could be back after the break, and they will be needed against the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton.
A couple of wins in those three games and Townsend and others will be back on the Bielsa bandwagon, we can guarantee that.
