Simon Grayson has been delighted with the start to the season made by Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford in the Premier League.
The Whites striker has scored in each of the opening two fixtures against both Liverpool and Fulham, showing great composure.
Bamford has faced criticism over the summer, with former managers such as David O’Leary questioning whether he was good enough for the top-flight.
Grayson claimed the 27-year-old is highly underrated, and that his confidence will be through the roof right now at Elland Road.
“It’s been great for Patrick Bamford that he’s had a good start to the season,” he told the Leeds United Show.
“Not everybody knows his work rate is there for the last couple of years, but ultimately he’s got goals hasn’t he first couple of games, so it’s great for his confidence.
“He’s been a little underrated, had a little bit of stick and I think Patrick would be the first to acknowledge that he’s missed a few chances over the last couple of years, but that’s what strikers do.”
Bamford has been nothing short of sensational since his return to the Premier League and is rightly receiving all the plaudits.
The Whites forward has scored twice and delivered an assist for Helder Costa’s second in the 4-3 win on Saturday after great work to burst past Dennis Odoi.
Darren Bent labelled Bamford as Leeds’ best player so far this season, claiming he even “destroyed” Fulham.
This is the Bamford we have been waiting to see, and it would be no surprise to see him continue his clinical run against Sheffield United.
