Graham Smyth stunned by VAR decision in Leeds clash v Spurs

Graham Smyth was left stunned by the VAR decision to disallow Harry Kane’s goal for Spurs against Leeds United this afternoon.

The England skipper appeared to have given his side the lead at Elland Road but was judged offside by millimetres alongside Pascal Struijk.

Patrick Bamford went on to fire the Whites into the lead before half-time, and it stayed that way until Rodrigo sealed all three points.

Writing on his personal Twitter account after the incident, it is clear how those felt watching live at Elland Road as the decision was made.

“Offside flag goes up to deny Kane as Dele Alli pulls wide and plays a lovely ball into Kane’s feet,” he said. “VAR will check it.

“That’s so tight. Incredible. Chalked off.”

Offside.

We have finally been given one of these decisions, and we can be happy with the consistency on show from the VAR.

Everyone remembers that tight call at Crystal Palace all those months ago, but that was his arm, and this one from Kane was his boot.

It wasn’t very clear, we will be honest, and the lines didn’t show much, but the benefit was given to the linesman who gave the initial decision.

We aren’t complaining, and it was Raphinha who kept his line perfect to lay the ball on a plate for Rodrigo to get his fourth goal of the season.

Offside is offside, the decision didn’t affect us like it did with Spurs, as we went on to pick up a deserved three points in the Premier League.
