Graham Smyth shares what he’s heard on Daniel Farke sack at Leeds United

Daniel Farke isn’t expected to get sacked at Leeds United after losing to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Sunday.

YEP journalist Graham Smyth would be “stunned” to see the Whites dismiss the German manager despite the 3-1 loss against the Tricky Trees on 9 November.

Sean Dyche got the better of Farke at the City Ground, leaving the West Yorkshire outfit just a point ahead of the relegation zone going into the international break.

Opta’s supercomputer now expects Premier League relegation at Elland Road, and the former Norwich City boss certainly has a mountain to climb in LS11.

Daniel Farke going nowhere amid Leeds United sack suggestion

Smyth doesn’t believe there will be any movement at Leeds in the coming weeks amid talks that Farke could possibly be sacked.

The YEP journalist hasn’t heard anything to suggest that the German manager is under threat of losing his job at Elland Road.

While the Whites have only one of their last six league matches, they still sit 16th in the table after 11 games with 11 points and have every chance of avoiding the drop.

Speaking on the Square Ball Podcast on 10 November, Smyth said: “I wouldn’t be expecting it to be honest. I would be very surprised, stunned, in fact, if they made a change at this point. Just not the sense I’m getting. It’s not what we’re hearing.”

The journalist added: “It really wasn’t that long ago when they were giving Farke a lot of credit for adapting his style, and for a start that has still given them a point per game on average.”

49ers Enterprises seem to be backing Farke for the time being, however, things could certainly change for him sooner rather than later if results don’t go his way.

Daniel Farke has free hit at Elland Road

Brendan Rodgers is free to replace Farke at Elland Road after resigning from Celtic, but the German manager will have the sympathies of the ownership for at least a few more weeks.

Leeds face Aston Villa, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool in their next four Premier League games, arguably giving the former Norwich boss some leeway for the time being.

Even if the Whites lose their next four matches, it would certainly be harsh to pull the plug on Farke.

However, the 49-year-old head coach will undoubtedly be judged by how the West Yorkshire outfit do against Brentford, Crystal Palace and Sunderland before the turn of the year as his situation is one to keep an eye on.
