Graham Smyth shares what Alioski said to Ben Mee after 4-0 win after pulling face at Dwight McNeil
Leeds United beat Burnley comfortably but a big talking point from the match was an incident involving Gjanni Alioski and Dwight McNeil.
The Burnley midfielder appeared to say something to Alisoki when he was on the ground clutching his leg, and he reacted in a rather amusing manner.
He initially stuck out his tongue at his opponent before making an even funnier face at him, causing the referee to speak to both managers.
Burnley’s Ben Mee also spoke to Alisoki about the situation at full-time, as relayed by Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth.
He said, “Alioski looked to be explaining his gesture to Ben Mee at full-time. Can only think that’s what brought Graham Scott to speak to both managers and then the left-back.”
Darren Fletcher also noticed the exchange, and described it as “crazy” during his commentary on BT Sport.
Never change, Gjanni
This incident just exemplifies Alioski and we loved every second of it.
We will miss his character if he leaves at the end of the season as we do not have another player like him and haven’t for some time.
He was brilliant against Burnley too and his steadiness at the back allowed Jack Harrison the freedom to roam forward to create chances, such as his assist for Rodrigo’s first goal.
If Alioski is to leave we must sign a left-back who is even better than the Macedonian in defence and preferably as good going forward.
Moving to Galatasary could tarnish Alioski’s reputation in the mind of some Leeds supporters, but we will reflect on fond moments of his humour, like the incident today.
