Graham Smyth shares what 49ers need to do for Leeds United fans after summer silence
Graham Smyth believes that “consideration” needs to be given to Leeds United supporters by the 49ers after a summer transfer window of silence.
Although the Whites managed to pull a few signings out of the bag towards the end of the transfer window, supporters were left in the dark as to what the West Yorkshire outfit’s plans for the summer were.
Fortunately, it seems to have worked out for Leeds this time around as those who have been brought in have no doubt improved the overall talent and depth of the squad.
Speaking on The Inside Elland Road Podcast (5 September) Smyth has pondered whether or not the 49ers’ tone will change now the window has shut.
“It’s not a one-way relationship where you get to say things at the fans when you want,” he said.
“They have questions and they have things they’d like to say and things they’d like to ask of the ownership, so I think consideration needs to be given to that – and we’ll see if their position changes on that over the next week or two.”
Leeds United supporters deserve better communication than what they’ve received
Leeds had quite a roller-coaster of a transfer window this summer. The Whites initially lost a large chunk of their best players with the likes of Archie Gray and Crysencio Summervile both being shipped off.
Although the club left it late, they did seemingly manage to suitably replace those who have exited.
Largie Ramazani, Manor Solomon and Ao Tanaka are just some of the names that spring to mind in terms of solid deals that the West Yorkshire outfit have completed.

The Whites will no doubt want to try and gain automatic promotion from the second tier to avoid the playoffs for the second season in a row.
Max Wober has also said that the club “clearly” wants promotion this term and that he is up for the challenge that lies ahead.
Granted, there is still plenty of time left in the window for things to change but for now, at least, it feels as if the West Yorkshire club are in a good moment that would be bolstered by a little more communication from their owners.
