Graham Smyth shares injury update on Leeds United youngster Archie Gray
Leeds United youngster Archie Gray suffered a nasty injury during their pre-season friendly against Aston Villa on Sunday morning (17 July).
Illan Meslier produced a string of heroic saves as Leeds suffered a 1-0 defeat in Brisbane. However, the pre-season was marred by an injury to Gray who was stretchered off.
Jesse Marsch said after the match that the 16-year-old was in “some pain”, and they hope that he hasn’t broken a bone, as relayed by Graham Smyth on Twitter.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist wrote on Twitter (17 July) that the “severity” of the injury is unknown at present.
Ridiculous
Gray came on as a substitute in the 62nd minute of the game.
However, after just eight minutes he was the receiving end of a crunching tackle by John McGinn.
The Villa midfielder appeared to have caught Gray around his ankle area. It was cowardly of him to stamp down on a young kid, in a pointless friendly game.
McGinn probably will say that it was not intentional but this could have been easily avoidable.
The youngster was stretchered off as March vented his frustration on the sidelines.
Gray is a fantastic young talent, and we all hope that the injury is not serious.
A penalty from Danny Ings made the difference between the two sides. Meslier was superb during the game and produced a stunning save to deny a penalty from Philippe Coutinho.
In other Leeds United news, efforts are being increased in our chase of another striker but this one comes from different European league champions.
