Graham Smyth shares if Leeds will cash in on Kalvin Phillips next summer

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has once again caught the headlines as he dominates on the international stage for England.

After the Three Lions’ win over Hungary last night, it has led to suggestions by the likes of Gabby Agbonlahor that he could want to leave Elland Road.

Victor Orta has completed an interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post, with some fans fearing that Phillips could be offloaded next summer.

One fan questioned Graham Smyth, asking whether it translated to Orta claiming that Phillips could be cashed in on in 2022.

Writing on his personal Twitter account on Friday, Smyth appeared to ease all worries in only five words.

“No, I don’t imagine so.”

Don’t imagine so?

We definitely could have done with some more reassuring after all of the comments dropping today.

There is no doubting that Phillips is the main man at Elland Road with Raphinha, and if either were sold, there would be mayhem.

It would need to take a ridiculous bid similar to that of Jack Grealish’s this summer in order to make us sell, and even then, we don’t think anyone would want it accepted.

Progression is obviously key in order to keep on to our best players, but if we consolidate again this year and then reassure our key men that we will be pushing for Europe next season, it should be more than enough motivation.

We can imagine that Phillips would want nothing more than the welcome European football back to Elland Road, and that will be the only thing on his mind, never mind leaving.
