Graham Smyth reacts to ‘Honking’ Sky Sports update as Leeds United news emerges
Graham Smyth has labelled Sky Sports’ coverage announcement “honking” as Leeds United will travel to Plymouth Argyle for a lunchtime kick-off.
The Whites will be expected to make the five-and-a-half-hour journey down to the Southwest in time for a 12:30 pm kick-off while fellow fans will feel urged to sit at home to watch on Sky Sports instead.
The chief football writer for Yorkshire Evening Post took to X on Thursday (4 January) after Leeds shared the news via their social media, with games against Swansea City (13th February, 7:45pm) and Leicester City (23rd February, 8pm) set to be broadcasted.
He wrote: “Honking. Absolutely Honking.”
Absurd
The news has sent shockwaves around the Elland Road fanbase, with many complaining of the greed and lack of concern for fans shown by the subscription-based sports brand.
Sky Sports have once again shown their lack of concern for the average football fan. An 11-hour-round trip for Leeds fans to watch their side take on a team currently sitting in 18th is unbelievable, even by their standards.
Leeds fans are understandably enraged by the announcement but will in no way be surprised. Sky Sports have continued to ignore the fans that make the sport what it is, and will have no plans of stopping anytime soon.

More and more fans will be open to blacklisting the sports provider as they consistently choose to turn a blind eye to the needs of football fans, focusing more on the financial benefits of putting a promotion-hopeful team on television.
Most will be unable to understand how they continue to get away with it. And “honking” is the nicest reaction currently seen on X right now.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites could be set to call up a player’s agent to complete their first January transfer.
