Graham Smyth explains Cody Drameh and Crysencio Summerville absences in Leeds United friendly against Nottingham Forest
Crysencio Summerville and Cody Drameh were absent from the Leeds United squad for the pre-season friendly against Nottingham Forest with knocks, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth.
The duo were conspicuous by their absence for Thursday’s (27 July) fixture at the Pirelli Stadium, home to Burton Albion.
However, Smyth took to Twitter to explain that there was not necessarily anything untoward about their absence from Daniel Farke’s team.
Smyth wrote: “Minor knocks for both Cody Drameh and Crysencio Summerville, who took a few whacks at York.”
He also added that Sam Byram, who has been training with his former club during pre-season, was handed a start.
Breath easy…for now
It can be easy to jump to conclusions during pre-season, especially with players who have been linked with moves away from the club.
Crysencio Summerville has reportedly been of interest to Crystal Palace (Mike McGrath, 25 July), while Bologna, Everton, Feyenoord have previously been reported as parties who want to seal his signature.
Drameh has returned to Thorp Arch for training this summer having spent time on loan at Luton Town last season, helping the club to an unlikely promotion to the Premier League.

He too has been linked with other clubs, including Premier League outfit Burnley, though Farke is likely to want him to stay and provide competition for right-back Luke Ayling.
Which is why Leeds fans will have seen the teamsheet and put two and two together. Perhaps they have made five with this one, but you can understand the concern.
For now, at least, fans can breathe easy.
