Graham Smyth drops ‘incredible’ Leeds United transfer verdict after what Crysencio Summerville did

Crysencio Summerville showed “unstoppable” finishing during the first training session of the Leeds United pre-season camp on Sunday (21 July), according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported via the newspaper’s website on 21 July that the winger looked sharp and that it wouldn’t be a surprise to see teams continued to be linked with last season’s Championship Player of the Year throughout the remainder of the transfer window.

Smyth also opined that if the Whites can keep hold of the 22-year-old this summer it would be an “incredible” bit of business from the club.

Crysencio Summerville staying would be massive for Leeds United

Following the disappointing end to the 2023/24 season, Summerville seemed to be the player most likely to exit Elland Road this summer.

The Leeds ace was crowned as the Championship’s Player of the Year, which resulted in interest from the likes of Brighton [Fabrizio Romano, 17 June] and Liverpool.

Although links to both of those clubs have since diminished, Rennes have stepped up their pursuit for the Netherlands-born attacker.

The Ligue 1 side have already acquired the services of Glen Kamara this summer and are trying hard for the transfer of Summerville [Sam C, 20 July].

If the Whites can somehow manage to keep Summerville this season, it would be a testament to the winger’s belief in the project and would certainly show that Daniel Farke’s men mean business.

Summerville would no doubt improve Leeds’ chances of Premier League promotion tenfold and would give them a strong chance to win the whole thing.

Smyth is definitely right, if Leeds can keep their star man from last season it really would be incredible.
