Graham Smyth: Dan James will feel 'world away' from previous Leeds United situation amid recent form
Dan James will feel a “world away” from his previous situation at Leeds United when he was sent out on loan, according to Graham Smyth.
Speaking on the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Inside Elland Road podcast on Thursday (19 October, 21:35), the journalist said the Welsh international is an “assist machine” after picking up three assists during the international break to go alongside the four he has registered for the Whites this season.
He added that the 25-year-old winger is “nothing but end product” at the moment and praised him for his attitude on returning to Elland Road from his season-long loan at Fulham last season.
“Dan James, he’s an assist machine,” said Smyth. “He’s all about the end product, he’s nothing but end product right now, nothing but net.
“He’s got it in him to provide a good cross and we’ve seen that this season, and I think that’ll be another confidence boost for him. I just think at the minute, he’ll feel a world away from when Leeds sent him out on loan.
“All credit to him for having the attitude he’s had and being willing to come back, fight and play his part to help Leeds get back up.”
Fresh start
It feels like James has been allowed to have a fresh start under Daniel Farke at Leeds and the pair deserve great credit for how he’s got his career back on track.
The winger has started seven games in the Championship this season, registering four assists and a goal to help his side get off to a decent start.
After scoring against Bristol City in the last game before the international break, he went away and notched three assists for Wales, so he will likely be returning with even more confidence.
His pace and direct running could prove to be a real asset for the Whites this season and he’ll no doubt just be delighted to be playing games regularly at Elland Road.
He will be hoping to put in another strong performance when the West Yorkshire club head to Stoke City on Wednesday (25 October), where they will be looking to pick up another important three points.
