Leeds United promotion to restore Graham Potter reputation – Carlton Palmer
Graham Potter could consider dropping down to the Championship to manage Leeds United next season if approached by the club, according to Carlton Palmer.
The Daily Mail reported on 30 May that both Potter and West Brom manager Carlos Corberan were two names that the Whites could try to approach for their vacant managerial position this summer, but they will face competition from fellow relegated side Leicester City.
Potter, 48, was sacked by Chelsea earlier this season after just seven months in the job, in which he won just seven of his 22 Premier League games in charge.

Speaking to Football League World, BBC pundit Palmer said: “Potter, after a disappointing stint at Chelsea, will be looking to get back into work as soon as possible. This is unlikely to be at Premier League level at this juncture.
“The jobs he has done at Swansea and Brighton have proven that he’s a very, very good manager, so getting either of these clubs promoted at the first time of asking would go a long way to restoring his credentials.
“So, I’m sure he’ll look at either of those opportunities if he is approached.”

Unrealistic
Although Potter is the ideal candidate for Leeds to pursue this summer, would he really want to drop down to the Championship after managing Chelsea in the Champions League less than three months ago?
When the 49ers Enterprises finally complete their takeover of the club this summer, they will certainly want to make a statement in the manager they hire and the players they target in the transfer window.
The Whites need a manager who has prior experience coaching in the Championship but can also undergo a long-term project at Elland Road, much in the ilk of Marcelo Bielsa.
Potter ticks both boxes in this regard and should still be held in high regard despite his dismal spell at the helm at Chelsea.
The extenuating circumstances during his stint at Stamford Bridge made the Englishman’s job nigh impossible, and he was always destined to fail at some point.
However, the major problem is that the likes of Crystal Palace, who will also be looking for a new manager this summer, hold the trump card of Premier League football.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign one 13-goal forward this summer after an impressive European season.
