Graeme Souness points the finger at Jesse Marsch after new Leeds United appointment

Graeme Souness has raised questions over Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch after the American hired a psychologist to help the team.

Marsch had been under extreme criticism until his team changed their fortunes against Liverpool in a heroic outing at Anfield.

Souness confessed that we can “pass judgment” on Marsch’s appointment in six months time and claimed he had to be the psychologist when he was managing.

“Marsch has hired a psychologist to help the team. We can pass judgment on that decision six months from now,” said Souness in his column for MailSport.

“Though when I was a manager, you were the one who had to be the psychologist.”

This is a pretty standard opinion from Souness, he’s always got something to say and has never been Marsch’s biggest fan, although he did praise him finally before this.

Hiring a physiologist must be common practice in the Premier League nowadays, so the American bringing one in for Leeds isn’t surprising.

Hopefully, the new appointment can go hand in hand with helping Leeds climb up the league table, Souness is right about one thing, we won’t see whether it’s working until the end of the campaign.

The Whites have the chance to make it back-to-back Premier League wins on Saturday 5th November as Bournemouth visit Elland Road.

A win would ultimately halt Marsch sacking speculation for a while, however, he’s far from off the hook just yet and a string of good results from his team is a must.

Crysencio Summerville will be set to start yet again, hopefully, we’ll get to see him paired up with fellow youngster Wilfried Gnonto again at some point against the Cherries.

In other Leeds United news, Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta have started scanning the market for potential upgrades on Jesse Marsch at Elland Road
