‘Going to be a great signing’ – Official Leeds post has got plenty of fans talking
Plenty of Leeds United fans were really impressed with summer signing Rodrigo after he gave an interview with the club’s official website.
The Spain international has made a solid impact since arriving from Valencia for a club-record fee of £27 million, and bagged his first goal for the club against Manchester City.
Signed initially as competition for Patrick Bamford according to The Athletic’s Phil Hay, the 29-year-old has been used in more of an attacking midfield role, and excelled in the Leeds’ recent win over Aston Villa.
This is not his first spell in England, having spent a spell on loan at Bolton Wanderers between 2010 and 2011.
However, in the interview, he speaks about how much he has improved since then and Leeds fans were clearly impressed, with many taking to Twitter to praise his intelligence and maturity, as well as his fit into the demanding system that Bielsa has implemented.
One supporter said the best thing about the interview was when he was talking about Patrick Bamford and competition at the club, saying, “he went on to say that we don’t have any huge stars, our biggest strength is working as a group. Very refreshing coming from Spains current number 9, who has played in multiple champions leagues.”
This is the Bielsa effect in action. And it seems Rodrigo has already got what it means to be Leeds.
Here are some of the best responses.
