Gnonto makes honest admission about his Leeds United displays this season
Leeds United forward Willy Gnonto is “really happy” with how he has contributed to the Whites this season but expressed the one area he could improve.
Gnonto has been a crucial figure at Elland Road this season despite being dropped for the victory over Derby, with Manor Solomon taking his place.
In an interview with Sky Sports (9 December), Gnonto reflected on his season so far and outlined the one area that he wants to improve.
“I’m working to try my best, to give my best every day and to be the best player I can be,” the Italian explained.
“I’ve been fit for every game and I’m really happy with where I am physically. I think I could have contributed more [goals and assists] but I know I still have more to give.
“I feel like you can see a difference in the way I started this season and the way I’m playing now.
I’m trying to play with more freedom, and the manager has given me that freedom to play. It’s up to me now to give something back and help the team.”
Willy Gnonto is key at Leeds United
While Gnonto outlines his numbers as his one area of improvement, but they have been more than reliable for Leeds this season.
With five assists and three goals, the Italian has been crucial to the Whites’ campaign and is a big reason why they find themselves where they are.
Could he improve? Of course he can, and it’s vital to remember that he is still just 21 years old. He has years of development ahead of him and is already a leading Championship forward.

Having occupied a position out wide, Gnonto has found freedom in his play and if Leeds can address the deficiencies that they have upfront, he will be allowed even more.
The signing of a striker in January could be a huge boost for Gnonto as it could provide that reliable figure for the forward to play off and in turn, start contributing even more under Daniel Farke.
