Glen Kamara 4/10, Ethan Ampadu 9/10 MOTM – Leeds United player ratings in Wales v Finland
There were five Leeds United players on display in the Wales game against Finland on Thursday (21 March).
Dan James came off the bench to score the fourth goal as Rob Page’s side secured a convincing 4-1 victory in Cardiff.
His Whites teammates Connor Roberts, Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu also ended up on the winning side, while Glen Kamara tasted defeat in the European Championship playoff fixture.
Here MOT Leeds News rates the Leeds players’ performances out of 10.
Connor Roberts – 7
It was a pretty quiet first half from Roberts after starting at right wing-back, but he certainly grew into the game as it went on. While he only had 38 touches, the defender was successful in both of his dribbles and made two key passes [SofaScore]. He was also extremely tidy in his defensive work, winning five out of his six duels despite being dribbled past one. A strong showing.
Joe Rodon – 6
It was a pretty good performance from Rodon on the whole. He will have been disappointed with his role in Finland’s goal as Teemu Pukki got the wrong side of him before finding the net. The Leeds loanee was extremely tidy in possession, though, giving the ball away just twice as he recorded a 96 per cent pass success rate. The centre-back made three tackles, three clearances and blocked one shot. He was given offside towards the end to prevent Wales from claiming another goal.
Ethan Ampadu – 9
It was a typical Ampadu performance. It’s been a while since we’ve seen him in midfield, but he seamlessly moved back into his position in the middle of the park. He was busy throughout the night, making some nice passes and patrolling in front of the defence. The Welshman made four key passes, one tackle and one interception. His 93 per cent pass success rate shows how impressive he was. There could be some eyes on him if he continues performing like this for club and country.

Dan James (On for Brennan Johnson ’73) – 7
Although James wasn’t on the pitch for very long, he certainly made an impact. The winger looked busy as soon as he came on and made a couple of dangerous runs. He dispossessed a Finland defender before going through on goal and supplying a lovely finish. It was the kind of display that could earn him a start next time around.
Glen Kamara – 4
It was a night to forget for Kamara and Finland. While the midfielder certainly wasn’t the worst player in blue, he didn’t really have much of an impact on the game. He recorded a tidy 98 per cent pass success rate and made two key passes, but he didn’t complete any dribbles or make any tackles. There will be better nights ahead for him.
