Jamie O’Hara has claimed that Leeds United will struggle this season in their return to the Premier League.
The talkSPORT pundit claimed Whites fans need to get back in their box as they get overhyped with their predictions for this season.
Leeds travel to Liverpool on Saturday evening as they start their first Premier League season in over 16 years.
O’Hara claimed predictions of European football are over the top, and that Leeds aren’t in the Championship anymore where they could win every week.
“I think that they are getting way overhyped,” he said on talkSPORT.
“Way overhyped with everything that’s going on with Leeds right now. This is your first season back in the Premier League, and I’m hearing people say they’re going to be top-six, people are talking Champions League.
“Get back in your box Leeds United fans, you’re going to struggle. It’s going to be a long, hard, tough season. This is not the Championship.”
No one will be under any illusions that the Premier League will be the same as the Championship, but it doesn’t mean that Leeds won’t approach it in the same way.
Marcelo Bielsa’s squad will still play with a high-intensity, on and off the ball, and that is something that Jurgen Klopp has admired.
The German admitted that Leeds’ style will suit them better in the Premier League and that he wouldn’t have picked the Whites as their opening game if he had the choice.
We haven’t heard anyone predict that European football is possible this season, so O’Hara may need to check his sources.
Yes, Andrea Radrizzani and others have claimed that is the ultimate goal, but as for this season, survival will be the only objective at Elland Road.
