Georginio Rutter to stay at Leeds United despite Elland Road uncertainty – Sky Sports pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Georginio Rutter will stay at Leeds United regardless of the club’s league status next season says Paul Robinson.

The Frenchman secured his move to Elland Road in the January window and in what was a club-record deal for the Yorkshire side.

The 20-year-old has yet to score for Leeds since moving from Hoffenheim, however, Robinson believes he will soon be staking a claim for a regular starting place.

“To be very honest and fair to the lad, you can’t judge him. He’s come to the club with a great reputation,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“He looks a quality player when he comes onto the pitch and he always has an impact when he comes on. You have to be very fair to him, he hasn’t been given an opportunity in a team which has struggled for goals.

“Prior to the Wolves game, Leeds struggled for goals and the manager still didn’t give our record signing an opportunity.

“I think that the jury is out on him. He will be around next year regardless of Leeds’ league status. He will be staking a claim for a regular starting place.”

Rutter has started just one Premier League game since arriving at Elland Road and has been regularly coming off the bench under Javi Gracia.

The Frenchman will be hoping to be given more of a shot when the Whites take on Liverpool next Monday (17 April).
