Georginio Rutter shares surgery update as Leeds United star posts image from hospital bed

Georginio Rutter has confirmed his surgery was a success after the Leeds United star underwent a hernia operation.

The Athletic journalist Phil Hay reported on 18 March that Rutter, 21, would have minor surgery after being pulled out of the France Under-21s squad due to a hernia.

Leeds confirmed that although the in-form forward has gone under the knife, he might be available to play against Watford on 29 March. If not, he should be ready to play Hull on 1 April.

Rutter took to his personal Instagram account on Wednesday night to share an image of himself smiling with his thumb up in a hospital bed after the surgery. He said: “Bonjour, everybody. Everything was good. Thanks for your messages.”

When will Georginio Rutter return from injury at Leeds United?

As it seems to have been a successful operation, Rutter could be back in action against Watford on Good Friday.

However, Daniel Farke and the Leeds medical staff might not want to risk the Frenchman for that game and could give him an extra couple of days to recuperate.

That would mean, in our opinion, he’s more likely to return against Hull at Elland Road on Easter Monday (1 April).

Rutter has been fantastic for the Whites this season, scoring seven goals and supplying an incredible 18 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.

While many would like to see the former Hoffenheim ace scoring more goals, he was never signed to be someone who will stick the ball in the back of the net – he’s never been that kind of player.

Instead, Rutter is someone who will link up play superbly and his assists stat strongly supports that.

Leeds are a worse side without him but if he isn’t available against Watford next Friday, you would imagine that the Whites will still have enough about them to see off the Hornets at Vicarage Road.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have already started scouting a defender who plans to return to England in the summer transfer window.
