Georginio Rutter injury scare emerges in Leeds United clash v Rotherham – Graham Smyth

Leeds United suffered a new injury scare during their clash with Rotherham United after Georginio Rutter went to the ground during the Whites’ warmup, according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported on Sunday (11 February) that the French forward was down on his haunches following a possession-based drill in the Whites’ warmup at Elland Road on Saturday (10 February).

Quickly, Leeds’ performance coach Chris Domogalla made his way over the the Whites’ striker for a conversation, but neither he nor Rutter made contact with the medical team to suggest that Rutter needed further treatment or assistance.

Rutter’s performance in Leeds’s 3-0 win showed little evidence that the striker was carrying a knock as he completed the full 90 minutes and even picked up an assist for Crysencio Summerville’s first goal.

Georginio Rutter injury scare avoided for Leeds United

Leeds United have really stepped up their promotion push over the last few weeks and a large part of that has been down to the explosive attacking power in Daniel Farke’s side that has proven too much for a majority of Championship defences.

While Crysencio Summerville’s performances this season have stolen a lot of the plaudits and Wilfried Gnonto’s recent run in front of goal has impressed pundits and journalists alike, Rutter has been just as important as anyone else at Elland Road.

Had Farke lost the Frenchman for any length of time, it would have been a huge blow to Leeds’ automatic promotion hopes, so the German and the Leeds supporters will be hoping that nothing comes of Saturday’s minor knock.

It seems unlikely that Farke would have risked Rutter on Saturday if it had been anything to be worried about, so the forward should be fit and ready to start once again against Swansea City on Tuesday (13 February).
