Sam Greenwood scored an absolute peach of a free-kick for the Leeds United Under 23s on Monday as they eased past a hapless West Brom youth side.

The goal was easily the moment of the match and Greenwood has given himself a good chance of winning the club goal of the season award.

Stood nearly 30 yards away to the right-hand side of the goal, Greenwood somehow manages to smash and curl the ball at the same time as it flies into the top of the far corner.

What seems to have gone under the radar is Joe Gelhardt’s reaction to the goal.

Gelhardt had an afternoon to remember himself as he scored a hattrick in the 5-0 win but he simply couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw his mate score from distance.

The Leeds youngster, who must be close to getting a first-team chance, didn’t celebrate with his teammates as he dropped to his haunches in disbelief.

In the video shared to Twitter by Leeds United, after the camera cuts back to Greenwood following the goal flying in, you can see Gelhardt’s reaction.

As his teammates go to congratulate Greenwood, Gelhardt is on the floor in shock at what he’s just witnessed.

We’re sure this sentiment was shared by anyone who was watching the live stream of the game at home.

What you can’t see in this image is that Gelhardt also has his hands over his face while squatting down.

When he eventually turns around and slowly walks towards Greenwood you can see that his hands are still there, he’s still shocked.

It is incredibly funny to see a player so shocked at a teammate’s ability like this.

The goal was absolutely phenomenal and this reaction from Gelhardt is a completely merited strong response.

We love seeing things like this from our young players and we sincerely hope we see similar scenes like this in the future when they play for the first team.

In other Leeds United news, one Whites youngster’s development could be in trouble after a major club update.
