Gary Neville was once wowed by Leeds United player, and now he could leave in January
Leeds United’s chances of surviving relegation could hinge on how successful they are in the January transfer window.
The Whites are looking to plug multiple problem positions, most notably up top, where Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Lukas Nmecha and Joel Piroe have all struggled.
As it stands, Leeds are the Premier League’s joint-second lowest scorers with 10, and that is why a new striker is being eyed by Daniel Farke.
After his heroics against Hungary on Sunday (November 16), Leeds have shown an interest in Troy Parrott from AZ Alkmaar; meanwhile, Haji Wright could be available for Farke.
But while incomings are necessary to avoid the drop, the 49ers could also sanction the departures of several players.

Wilfried Gnonto could leave Leeds in January
A return to the Premier League was an opportunity for many to leave their mark, including Wilfried Gnonto, but an injury has cruelly denied him that chance so far.
Gnonto suffered a calf injury in the middle of September, last featuring for Leeds in the dying embers of their 1-0 defeat to Fulham.
| Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| 2022-23 | 28 | 4 | 4 |
| 2023-24 | 44 | 9 | 3 |
| 2024-25 | 46 | 9 | 6 |
| 2025-26 | 5 | 0 | 1 |
A spell on the sidelines for the Italian has signalled a frustrating few months in West Yorkshire, although supporters will be delighted to know that Gnonto could return from injury against Aston Villa this weekend.
On the flip side, they won’t be happy that Leeds are willing to listen to offers for the 22-year-old in January.
That is according to TeamTalk, who claim that the Elland Road hierarchy sees the fleet-footed winger as a high-value asset, and selling him could result in any PSR worries being eased.
What Gary Neville once said about Gnonto
When Gnonto dazzled on the Premier League stage as a teenager during the 2022/23 campaign, the winger caught the eye of many.
A particular highlight was his goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford in February 2023, with former defender Gary Neville left stunned by the youngster’s maturity.
“To see someone so mature, so young is very unusual in that position,” Neville said after Leeds’ 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa in January 2023.
“Sometimes you see potential and talent but watching him so closely, his understanding of where to be, his choice of pass, when to run with it, his awareness of teammates, really good honestly.”
Gnonto’s career has since been blighted by inconsistency, but after producing 15 goal involvements in the Championship last term, supporters want to see him properly used by Farke in the top-flight instead of being sold.
