Gary Neville has singled out Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa as the most “intriguing” part of the 20/21 Premier League season.
The Whites will kick off their first top-flight campaign in 16 years in only eight days times when they travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool.
It will put the Championship title-winners against the Premier League champions in a real test of wits between Bielsa and Jurgen Klopp.
Neville was fascinated by Bielsa and admitted that opening game will be watched up and down the country on Saturday evening.
“I think it’s the most intriguing story in the Premier League this season how Bielsa will do in the Premier League,” he told Stadium Astro.
“I think the first game – Liverpool v Leeds is amazing, I think it will be watched all around the world, but certainly will be a big draw in this country.”
Neville also spoke about the Leeds-Manchester United rivalry and predicted that fans could return for the reverse fixture in April.
“I can’t wait for the game at Elland Road, I think it’s later in the season and I think, hopefully by then the fans will be back in the stadium and we’ll see one of the most incredible atmospheres.”
It is highly unlikely that Elland Road will be packed out for that massive clash towards the end of the season, but we agree with what Neville has to say.
Bielsa will join the world’s elite where he belongs next season against the likes of Klopp and Pep Guardiola and we can’t wait to see how Leeds will take on those challenges.
Leeds have splashed the cash too, spending upwards of £40million on Rodrigo and Robin Koch, with more expected to come.
Should Rodrigo de Paul and Josko Gvardiol follow through the door, Leeds would be among the highest spenders in the league, and the expectation will rise at the same time.
Sheffield United did similar last season, and some involved with Leeds have already mentioned that, although it is not going to be that straight forward.
