Gary Neville reacts to Rodri goal in Leeds United v Manchester City
Gary Neville has showered praise on Rodri after he scored the opening goal for Manchester City against Leeds United.
The Sky Sports pundit wasn’t entirely pleased with the positioning of Kalvin Phillips for the goal.
Leeds started the match strongly but they were left underdone by a quality free-kick from Phil Foden.

“They allowed Foden to get his range. Couple of crosses, wide freekicks. His delivery wasn’t the best,” said Neville on Sky Sports.
“But on the fourth time of asking, his delivery was absolutely perfect.
“Lovely little touch from Rodri. Kalvin Phillips is always underneath. He was never there. City up.”
Big chance wasted
Leeds got a huge chance in the first half when Rodrigo got a brilliant opportunity to put his side ahead but wasted a glorious opportunity.
The Spaniard was in great position to pass the ball after he picked up nicely in the middle of the park when a City defender fell on the ground.

However, a poor decision from him resulted in a wasted opportunity. Instead of passing the ball to a teammate he delayed and dragged it to the end, missing the target completely.
City maintained their possession and created chances mainly from set-pieces.
The goal was well taken. It was a brilliant delibery from Foden and Rodri glanced the header perfectly.
Could Kalvin Phillips have done better? Probably not. He covered it well, but Rodri was in a better position and he slotted home.
