Gary Neville: Leeds United could easily be relegated if not careful in Premier League

Gary Neville has insisted that Leeds United could easily be dragged into a relegation battle if not careful in the Premier League.

The Whites were largely embarrassed in their 3-0 defeat against Everton over the weekend, with Stuart Dallas adding to their injury woes.

Neville has admitted that Brentford are a bigger worry at this moment in time, with Leeds having more games to play.

Speaking on his latest Sky Sports podcast over on YouTube, Neville shared his verdict on relegation after a tough weekend.

“I think Leeds could get dragged in,” he said. “Brentford, I would be worried about. They have played a few more games. That Newcastle team. That performance isn’t going down.

“There’s no doubt that there are one or two of those sides, Leeds and Brentford, who could get dragged back into if they are not careful.

“They would be big losses to the Premier League, by the way. But Brentford and Leeds have brought a lot. I always see great games when those two are playing. But that won’t count for anything.”

Could get?

This is where Neville is wrong, Leeds already are in that relegation battle.

Saturday evidence was harrowing for us watching along, and with performances like that, the bottom three is not too far away.

Marcelo Bielsa can sugarcoat it and take the blame all he likes, but it is clear that something needs to be seriously changed.

Failing in January would play a major part in this, and serious questions will need to be asked if that backfires in a few months time.

We are also starting to get fed up with those claiming that Leeds are “too good” to go down, the players need to step up and prove that in what proves to be our toughest spell of the season coming up.

If the players don’t want relegation, they need to step up and make sure it doesn’t happen in the next couple of months.
