Gary Neville & Jamie Carragher: Leeds deserved penalty v Newcastle
Leeds United laboured their way to yet another disappointing Premier League point on Friday against Newcastle.
Despite taking the lead through Raphinha, Allan Saint-Maximin was given far too much space time after time and he took advantage by equalising.
The Whites had numerous clear cut chances but couldn’t take advantage, but Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher believe they should have had one more.

Dan James earned his full debut for the club at St James’ Park and struggled to make a major impact down the left.
The Welsh flyer did draw a foul in the box in the first half, but Mike Dean somehow waved the calls away.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher admitted that it was a definite penalty and that most people could see that.
“I gave a gasp in commentary and I was a bit shocked,” he said.
“It was almost an ‘oh no’ it’s a penalty.”
Neville responded, and couldn’t believe that it didn’t go to VAR and then the monitor for it to be reviewed and overturned.
“Why aren’t they sending it to the monitor? Have another look at it. It was a clear and obvious error. That’s a penalty.”

How?
Only a matter of days after the Pascal Struijk saga and how he was somehow given a red card that was upheld, this happens.
Leeds were finally in a position to benefit from a VAR call in the Premier League, and they were let down by every single official.
There is not a chance in this world that this isn’t a penalty, James clearly gets to the ball first and is then clattered – what more does he need to do?
Dean was trying to be the centre of attention for the entire game last night, and the VAR officials really needed to step in here and have another look.
The Whites are being continuously let down by officials and technology, and that cannot continue to happen without something being said.
Everyone could see this foul, why couldn’t they?
