Gary Neville expects Leeds United to have disrupted multiple Christmases after what they’ve done

Gary Neville couldn’t be more impressed with Leeds United’s recent form.

Leeds demolished Crystal Palace 4-1 on Saturday, sending Elland Road into delirium after another successful result against an in-form Premier League team.

Daniel Farke’s side are now six points clear of 18th-placed West Ham, and their unbeaten run of four matches has seen fans believe that they can avoid relegation.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goalscoring run for Leeds has come at the perfect time as the festive schedule ramps up, while Joe Rodon and Jaka Bijol have been towering presences at both ends of the pitch.

After their win on Saturday, Neville has heaped praise on Farke’s side and issued a warning to their relegation rivals.

Leeds’ form will have other Premier League teams worried

Farke’s 3-5-2 tactic has worked wonders, and the Whites are thriving in the top flight after a rough start to the season.

Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast on 21 December, the former Man United defender believes that teams around Leeds in the table will be stressed over their recent revival.

He said: “I think West Ham, Fulham, Nottingham Forest will be looking at Leeds and feeling uncomfortable.

“Four weeks ago, they would have thought that Leeds would join Burnley and Wolves in being cut adrift at the bottom.

Neville added: “Those clubs need to shape up, because if they think they can’t go down, then they need to think again. They’ll be feeling disrupted going into their Christmas dinners.”

Despite his allegiances to Man United, Neville has waxed lyrical about Leeds in recent weeks, and he is convinced that they have what it takes to avoid relegation.

If you told the most optimistic Leeds fan at the start of December that they’d find themselves in this position, they’d hardly believe you.

However, Leeds are now primed to become the first newly-promoted team to avoid relegation since 2022-23.

Leeds’ change in style has showcased their potential in the Premier League

Leeds’ threat from set-piece situations is one of their biggest assets, and it was incredibly effective against the Eagles on Saturday.

Farke was initially insistent on his style of play that got Leeds promoted from the Championship, although it became clear that the players couldn’t achieve consistent performances playing this way in the top flight.

Ever since the second-half performance away to Manchester City on 29 November, their fortunes have dramatically changed for the better.

With Sunderland to come before the turn of the year, the Peacocks could find themselves even further clear of the relegation zone and heap further misery on the likes of Fulham, West Ham and Nottingham Forest.
