Gary Neville blasts Leeds United as Angus Kinnear shares stance on Government document

Gary Neville has blasted Leeds United after managing director Angus Kinnear revealed why he’s opposed to a Premier League transfer tax.

Writing in his pre-match programme notes ahead of Leeds versus Crystal Palace at Elland Road on Tuesday night, Kinnear compared the idea of Premier League clubs helping EFL clubs out more financially as “Maoist collective agriculturalism”.

Ex-Manchester United right-back Neville is less than impressed by Kinnear’s stance and has reminded people that Leeds have only just returned to the Premier League after almost two decades.

Writing on Twitter, Neville said: “Anyone remember when Leeds United were in the Championship sweating like crazy over their own financial state if they didn’t go up?

“How has it come to this within 12 months? A sorry state of affairs.

“Surely even Leeds fans don’t like these programme notes on the Fan Led Review.”

Neville’s right

We’ve only been in the Premier League for a few minutes compared to what we’ve been through over the last couple of decades and it seems that the principles of the club have changed a lot.

Kinnear should not be taking this stance.

Leeds spent around £100million on new players after winning promotion. Would they have been able to spend a tenth of that if they didn’t go up?

It’s honestly ridiculous that Kinnear would take this stance and we really think he should reconsider his words.

EFL clubs are going into administration left, right and centre. Just look at the state of the teams at the bottom end of the Championship and some of them further down the tiers.

Bury and Macclesfield have both gone out of business in recent years too and Bolton were very, very close.

Clubs are so desperate to get into the Premier League for the money that they’re putting their very existence at risk too – look at Aston Villa and Derby.

Kinnear is someone who should know better than this.

In other Leeds United news, this club is set to make a massive loss on a player who Marcelo Bielsa sold to them.
