Gary McAllister to play important role in luring Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United to Aston Villa

Former Leeds United captain and Aston Villa assistant coach Gary McAllister will play an important role to convince Kalvin Phillips to leave.

According to The Telegraph’s John Percy, the England midfielder is understood to be high on Steven Gerrard and Villa’s wishlist for this summer.

McAllister, who is Gerrard’s assistant, will be key in the sales pitch as Leeds will demand £60million for his services in case they stay up.

However, in case they get relegated, he could be available for as little as £30million.

Tense times

Phillips surely must be knowing all about McAllister and it may be hard to say no to any Premier League club, let alone Villa, in case they get relegated.

This is a World Cup year and all the eyeballs are going to be on the Premier League and not the Championship for the ideal Three Lions squad.

Villa are a club on the rise and will give Phillips the opportunity to challenge for European football next season.

They’re also investing a great deal in their players and the fact that Philippe Coutinho agreed to sign permanently says a lot about their pulling power.

All these discussions are valid if and only if Leeds get relegated so we’re hoping that things don’t have to go down that route.

A win against Brentford on Sunday and Burnley dropping points would ensure another year of Premier League football and we’re hoping that it happens.

In Leeds United news, an under-the-radar court case involving the transfer of a Leeds player has reached its conclusion with the final payout revealed.
